    Forum.Digital Construction 2020

On March 24, leaders of the construction industry gathered remotely for the first time during the coronavirus pandemic to discuss the digitalization of the construction industry - Forum.Digital Construction 2020.

In the online format, not only discussions and speeches were held, but also a virtual exhibition of digital solutions, which was active throughout the day. Over 500 people took part in the Forum.Digital Construction Online.

The online event took place simultaneously from two locations: Digital Economy Development Fund and University of the Ministry of Construction NIISF RAASN. At Forum.Digital Construction, over 20 digital solutions for the construction industry were offered, 50+ speakers demonstrated cases of preparing a specification, documentation, introducing advanced end-to-end technologies and achieving a successful transformation of the construction industry.

The online forum hosted the first VR exhibition of digital construction solutions in Russia. An innovative approach, virtual expositions, a completely new format - this is what sets it apart from others. Such large companies as 1C, Rive Gauche, Hexagon, Spectrum and others demonstrated their IT solutions. Each forum participant could walk around the VR exhibition, study the stands of companies and communicate in a personal chat with exhibitors - representatives of leading companies in the construction industry, who promptly answered questions. These chats have helped make up for the lack of live networking with online communication.

One of the speakers in the section "Design and construction activities in infrastructure projects" was Svetlana Parkhomenko, Head of the BIM-technologies department at Metropolis. The Forum.Digital Online speakers paid special attention to the pre-project preparation of construction and the use of information modeling technologies in practice.

The experts discussed exactly how this process will take place and how long it will take to fully digitalize the construction industry. "Digitalization can become more significant and relevant than it was before", - notes Dmitry Volkov, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Construction of Russia. - "When we talk about the introduction of information modeling technologies in the construction industry, it is worth noting that funding will be provided by the state. The introduction of BIM technologies in the design of construction will become mandatory by 2023-2024. The transition process will undergo faster. The first thing that is planned to be done is to form an information system for supporting urban planning activities, both at the regional and federal levels. Subsequently, translate the documents into a machine-readable form".

"We hope that in the near future the digital twin map will become an implemented project, and we will be able to see the digitalized construction industry", - says Maxim Chereshnev, Board Member of the Digital Economy Development Fund. - "Throughout the year, we will continue to work together with the Ministry of Construction of Russia and the Digital Economy Development Fund in order to develop digital projects and support those companies that are digitalizing the construction industry. The digital twins, which were presented, mutually develop this direction of BIM technologies and enable designers to use these technologies now during the current circumstances.
