During the International Construction Forum and Exhibition 100+ TechnoBuild, Alexander Vorozhbitov, CEO of Metropolis, gave an interview in the open studio of FederalPress. In particular, the main criteria that a general designer must meet in technically complex and unique projects were voiced.

«The first point is relevant experience. For example, in the Middle East, you cannot design high-rise buildings if the company has not worked for seven years on smaller-scale projects. The number of positive expert opinions received is also important. Second, in my opinion, more than 50% of design work should be carried out within the company, because if more than half of the work is subcontracted, then this is more of a function of the technical customer. And last but not least, a strong management team is also important», - Alexander Vorozhbitov shared his opinion.
According to the expert, the concept of «general designer» was present in Soviet legislation, but is absent from Russian legislation. Meanwhile, Alexander Vorozhbitov is convinced that design work market is highly stratified and the functions of a general designer (especially in complex and unique projects) can be performed by only a few operating organizations, namely 7.2% of the companies with the corresponding OKVED. Therefore, it is simply necessary to prescribe the functions of a general designer in legislation.
Moreover, these criteria should become part of the mandatory training program for students of specialized universities. So, when they come to work, they understand what they will have to face.
Alexander Vorozhbitov emphasized that large design organizations should unite to promote a single industry standard for general designers, since today the competition between them is imaginary. In fact, the real struggle is only for qualified employees.
