Open-door days for students in Metropolis offices in 2024

On May 29, the winners of the Student League of the international engineering championship CASE-IN in the direction of «Architecture, design, construction and housing and communal services» were determined, with the Metropolis company acting as the initiator of the league, strategic partner, and also author of the case.

Let's relive the best moments from this day:

The winners and finalists of the competition were invited to open-door days at the Metropolis offices. From June 20 to July 29, 2024, colleagues from branches in St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov and Sevastopol received talented students and talked to them in person. And for the finalist teams from Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Chelyabinsk and Mogilev, a unique online meeting was held, where the participants were also able to learn more about the company, development opportunities and ask questions about their careers at Metropolis.

During each meeting, the finalists were told about the career program, opportunities and development areas in the leading company in the field of architectural and construction design.

Traditionally, students will be able to begin their professional path with a paid internship in the company's offices, during which they will learn about the basic principles of the design organization, get acquainted with the stages of design, the operation of individual software and even have time to work on real Metropolis’ projects. The internship assumes the possibility of further employment.

One of the company's ambassadors who attended most of the events was once again Olga Lyubartseva, COO. «I would like to note that not only students come to our events, but also their mentors from universities. We see how important it is for teachers to understand how the professional life of their wards will develop in the future. We tried to answer all the questions from design technologies to working conditions in our company», - Olga says.

Recent interns who have already become part of the Metropolis team, as well as young specialists, shared their experience and the story of their unique path in the company. Maxim Geibo, the chief engineer of the project, not only held online master classes using his projects as an example, but also shared his career case: after working in the company for 3 years as an assistant to the chief engineer, Maxim became the chief engineer of the project.

«Watching the participants' performances during the Championship, it was obvious to the naked eye how much they wanted to grow and develop. And they have all the opportunities for this at Metropolis», - says Maxim.

«I was pleased to share with the guys my experience, which I gained as a young specialist. I wanted to emphasize the non-trivial aspects of design, complex tasks, the solution of which brings pleasure. The questions asked after the presentation showed both the interest of the audience and their existing professional knowledge».

During the entire period of open days, 48 students visited our offices and events and 7 are already doing internships or have found jobs!

    Saint-Petersburg

The first open-door days were held on June 21-22 at the Metropolis office in St. Petersburg. Alexander Vorozhbitov, CEO of Metropolis, Elona Balatbieva, HRD, and Olga Lyubartseva flew in from Moscow to present the company's career opportunities to the Championship finalists.

Sergey Bravkov, HVAC design engineer, and last season's CASE-IN winners representing the BROYZ team - Valeria Kozodaeva, architect technician, Lyudmila Morshchakova, process engineer, and Ulyana Popova, BIM-technician - answered numerous questions from students about life inside the company.

«I am glad that CASE-IN and Metropolis have continued their cooperation, which means that talented young employees will join our team. A year ago, we were in their place, and today we confidently complete tasks and continue to grow in our profession. For me personally, the victory was a turning point; working with unique objects in a team of the best designers in the country since I was 22 years old inspires respect, first of all, for myself!» - Valeria notes.

«Over the year of working in the company, I have grown as a specialist. The tasks are becoming more complex and extensive, but they allow me to look for new interesting solutions and feel that I can be useful. This year, I am finishing my 6th year of university. Fortunately, working at Metropolis allows me to easily combine study and work thanks to a flexible schedule», - Ulyana Popova shared.

    Nizhny Novgorod

On June 28, the Nizhny Novgorod office of Metropolis took over the baton of the event. Oleg Baranov, Managing Partner, Olga Lyubartseva, Maria Fedorova, Leading HR Manager, and Georgy Merzlyuk, Head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch, took part in the open day at the company's branch.

After the traditional tour of the office, the students were presented with a career program, told in more detail about the company's projects, followed by an online master class, and at the end - answers to questions from the participants and informal communication.

As part of the event, the finalists of last year's CASE-IN Championship, who also became part of the Metropolis company, spoke to the students - Grant Grigoryan, technician-architect, Elizaveta Kostina, technician-architect, and Eduard Kholod, structural design engineer. Young specialists noted the unique opportunity to work on iconic objects of the country, which is possible thanks to the distributed matrix structure of the company.

    Saratov

On July 3, the open-door day was held for the first time in the Saratov office, which opened only this year. The meeting for the Championship finalists, the «Kryzhovnik» team from the Saratov State Technical University named after Gagarin, was held by Pavel Kordonets, head of the low current systems engineers group.

The event began with a welcome coffee break, where students could communicate with the company's employees in an informal setting. Pavel noted the students' keen interest in the company's work, numerous questions and willingness to learn. «The guys immediately showed themselves to be open, friendly and very motivated», - he notes. «I would especially like to note the students' participation in the master classes that we prepared especially for them. The guys actively participated in the discussions, offered creative ideas and demonstrated excellent teamwork skills. It was clear that they came here not just to listen, but also to actively absorb new knowledge and experience».

    Sevastopol

On July 29, the final meeting of the open-door days cycle at Metropolis was held in Sevastopol. Mohamed Nasser, Commercial Director and Co-Founder, flew in from Moscow especially for this event. Together with Alexandra Belimenko, Head of the Company's Branch in Sevastopol, they talked about career opportunities at Metropolis and presented the company's landmark projects, including delving into the intricacies of designing the Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Choreographic Academy, which are part of the cultural cluster being built in the city as part of the National Project called «Culture».

The finalists of the CASE-IN Championship were joined by their mentors at the open-door day - Elina Eduardovna Krasilnikova, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design at SevSU, and Aleksey Ivanovich Tikhonov, Director of the Institute for City Development at SevSU.

«The open-door day is not only a large-scale event for students, allowing them to understand their capabilities and development prospects, but also an additional opportunity for creative communication between specialists in the field of design and construction, architecture and history, culture and art», - comments Alexandra Belimenko on the past meeting.

Once again, congratulations to all the Special League winners and finalists! Looking forward to working together!
