In 2024, «Metropolis» developed and implemented for the first time a new diploma defense format at St. Petersburg State University.

The format provides for a comprehensive group diploma defense by the project team, which corresponds to the actual practice of project companies and helps to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical requirements of the labor market already at the training stage.

This year, our company has allocated several real objects for complex work, such as a hotel in Moscow, a clinic project and an art museum in St. Petersburg, which 16 students actively worked on.

Sergey Nikolaevich Bryuzgin Head of the OViCV Department at «Metropolis», joined the state examination committee, which evaluates students' theses prepared according to the new format.

Sergey Bryuzgin commented on the new format for defending graduation projects: «Defending comprehensive theses is an interesting and dynamic format for graduation papers. The students not only completed their part of the diploma, but also showed the ability to interact with related disciplines. This gave the members of the commission an idea of the completed project as a whole, which distinguishes this format of work protection from standard protection within a single section. Due to the high level of work performed, as well as taking into account the integrated approach to the project, all theses were rated «excellent».»

In June 2025, our colleagues Varvara Danilova and Anastasia Boikova from the St. Petersburg office and Anastasia Chebykina from the Nizhny Novgorod office successfully defended comprehensive diploma projects in the specialty «Construction of high-rise and large-span buildings and structures». Diploma topic: «The project of an 8-storey residential building in the city of St. Petersburg. Heating and ventilation», as well as «The project of the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. Water supply and sanitation». They demonstrated a high professional level and willingness to work in real-world design conditions.

Thus, «Metropolis» is actively developing partnerships with the country's leading universities, introducing modern educational methods and training qualified specialists in its field.
