On May 28, 2025, the final of the Architecture, Design, Construction and Housing and Utilities section of the student league of the 13th season of the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN was held in Moscow at the site of the Russian State Geological Prospecting University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze.
The International Engineering Championship CASE-IN is an international system of competitions in solving engineering cases for schoolchildren, students and young professionals. The championship has been held since 2013 and is implemented with the support of the Presidential Platform «Russia - the Land of Opportunities».
The Metropolis company has been the initiator and strategic partner of the Architecture, Design, Construction and Housing and Utilities section since 2023. In 2024, the project was supported by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, including it in the roadmap for the development of the construction industry until 2030.
In 2025, the section expanded its boundaries again: the project covered 20 industry universities from 17 cities of Russia from Kaliningrad to Khabarovsk. 112 teams declared their intention to compete, but only 81 of them were able to solve the case and take part in the qualifying round. Based on the results of 12 qualifying stages, 14 best teams from 11 cities of our country reached the final. More than 50 experts from the Metropolis company from different cities and 56 experts from the faculty of universities were involved in all stages. The expert committee of the final included:

This season's case involves developing a concept for a tourist complex in a natural area. This year, the choice of the type of facility was dictated by real market demands. In 2024, the largest number of requests were for the design of sports facilities and tourist infrastructure. Thus, students worked on the case in conditions aimed at developing competencies in non-academic projects and preparing for working conditions in a real design organization, and also gained experience in designing facilities that have been in high demand on the market in recent years.
The technical assignment was prepared by experts from the Metropolis company and representatives of the faculty of the National Research University Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, acting as analysts.
Student teams have a unique opportunity to receive feedback on their solutions from practicing industry experts. This year, the cases were assessed by experts from Metropolis, VTB-Engineering, and for the first time, a representative of the Federal Autonomous Institution Main State Expertise of Russia was included in the jury of the finals; the founders of the country's leading architectural firms — KAMEN, SPEECH, Meganom — were involved in assessing architectural solutions. The chairman of the expert commission for the third year in a row is CEO of Metropolis, Alexander Vorozhbitov.
The project is aimed at popularizing engineering and creative specialties in construction, creating knowledge-intensive jobs, continuing the traditions of the Russian engineering school, supporting the country's leading industry universities, reducing the gap between academic education and the real needs of business and identifying talented students, offering them a career start in one of the leading Russian companies in the segment of architectural and construction design.

«Universities participating in the competition for the second time have shown noticeable growth in the development of their solutions. This means that our main goal - reducing the gap between academic education and real business needs - is being successfully implemented», - Alexander Vorozhbitov commented on the final of the current season.
The top 3 places this season were distributed as follows:
