Denis Dubinin, Senior Project Manager at Metropolis, was invited to the event as an expert, where he discussed with other participants the issues relevant to the industry, and also spoke about the peculiarities of design of sports facilities and some of the implemented sports projects of Metropolis.

In his speech, Denis Dubinin drew attention to an important difference between sports facilities and residential or commercial facilities - after the completion of construction, the building is not just rented or sold, it is operated and gradually generates income. Therefore, when designing, many details must be foreseen in advance so as not to make adjustments already at the construction stage or during operation.

On the other hand, the choice of equipment should often be left to a later stage, as the multimedia devices used in sports venues can become obsolete during the construction process, due to the rapid development of technologies. Also, the current issues with the supply of foreign equipment makes the situation unpredictable. At the same time, the quality of equipment produced in Russia is increasing at an extremely fast pace. This is another reason to hold back equipment estimation for a later stage of the project, as new Russian solutions appear quite often. And what needs to be carefully thought out at the early stages is the infrastructure for technological solutions.

Denis also spoke about some of the sports projects implemented by the Metropolis company. In particular, about the Rhythmic Gymnastics Palace of Irina Viner-Usmanova. An important issue in the design of the engineering sections was ventilation and air conditioning of the main arena. It was necessary to achieve a strict restriction of air mobility in the central part of the arena, so that the gymnastic ribbons would not sway during exercises. To create the correct microclimate, the CFD mathematical modeling system was used.

The Surf Park Volna became a unique project, since this sport is practically not represented in Russia at all, and many decisions had to be made without a reference point. Denis shared his experience in designing a multifunctional sports complex with an ice arena on the territory of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain, as well as reconstruction of the Luzhniki Sports Palace into an ice palace for the Spartak hockey club.

The organizer is the holding “SBC. Sport Business Consulting”, which regularly holds business breakfasts, webinars and conferences dedicated to the sports business and the problems of sports infrastructure in Russia.
