There are only a couple of days left until registration for the Student League «Architecture, Design, Construction and Housing and Public Utilities» of the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN is completed. The initiator and strategic partner of the league is the Metropolis company. The championship is traditionally held with the support of the presidential platform «Russia – the Land of Opportunities». During this month, our experts have already managed to evaluate the cases of participants from the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, South Ural State University and the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II.

On March 6, the first qualifying stage was held at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, where the team named «BIM-Spirit» became the winner and first finalist. There was a tense battle between the teams: the gap between first and second place was only 0.04 points.

On March 19 the remote qualifying stage of CASE-IN was held in Chelyabinsk at the South Ural State University. For the first time, the university became a participant in the «Architecture, Design, Construction and Housing and Communal Services» direction, despite this, the teams presented worthy solutions. The winner was the team named «Ural Architectural Bureau».

On March 20 the Mining University in St. Petersburg took over the baton for the qualifying stages. The competitions were held in a face-to-face format, thanks to which Metropolis experts had the opportunity to discuss the presented solutions of the participants after the defenses in a more informal setting:

«It was nice to see smart, inspired, ambitious guys who were able to prepare worthy projects in a short time. It was also interesting to communicate with the participants after the performances: to express their thoughts regarding the work done, share their experiences and find out their impressions of the championship. CASE IN is an excellent opportunity for talented guys to apply knowledge in teamwork and expand their boundaries in the field of design», -said Alina Sitova, chief design specialist at Metropolis company.

Ekaterina Velichko, chief architect of the Metropolis company project, noted that the Championship provides an opportunity to establish communications with the teaching staff of educational institutions: «It was a pleasure to communicate with proactive, ambitious and interested students who spared no time and presented their ideas in such a short time. It was also interesting to talk with their teachers, to find out how they see the further development of the educational programs of the Faculty of Architecture».

Kirill Pivovarov, head of the HVAC group at Metropolis company, drew attention to the quality of the projects within the allotted time: «I was most impressed by the time in which the students had to prepare (only 2 weeks!) Against this background, the «Ampersand» team’s project (winners of the qualifying stage in Mining University in St. Petersburg - editor's note), considering their debut in CASE-IN was especially bright».

The participants are invited to develop a project for a standard universal multifunctional complex that can be built in any locality in Russia with minimal changes. The complex has an area of no more than 10,000 sq. m. on 3 floors (including one underground floor with parking) should provide various premises, for example, office space, food court, cafe, fitness center, SPA, children's club, bank, etc.

We look forward to the winners of the past qualifying stages at the finals in Moscow. The next qualifying stage will take place on April 3 at the Sevastopol State University, where the jury will evaluate the work of seven teams.
