    Metropolis company at the MES conference "Health Architecture" in Kazan

    On October 7, Kazan hosted the XIV International Scientific and Practical Conference MES (Modern Engineering Systems & Architecture of Health – 2022) on the topic “Modern engineering systems. Health Architecture”. The venue was the II International Construction Championship at the Kazan Expo IEC.

    The event was dedicated to global trends in the architecture of medical institutions. Particular attention was paid to the concept of "Health Architecture". It involves a harmonious combination of architectural appearance and volumetric solutions, empathic design, internal climate, engineering systems. According to the studies, the interpenetration of these components provides a complex effect on a person, positively affecting his health and life.

    Mohamed Nasser, Commercial Director of Metropolis, took part in the conference with the participation of industry leaders and representatives of leading Russian and foreign architectural firms. Among the forum participants were the Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation Irek Fayzullin, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexei Pesoshin, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Chief Architect of Kazan Ilsiyar Tukhvatullina, as well as the founders of the architectural bureaus Orchestra (France) and CRAFT (Mexico).

    Mohamed spoke at the plenary session “World Trends in the Architecture of Health”, and also took part in the panel discussion “High Technologies in Healthcare: Principles for the Effective Functioning of a Building as an Integral System”, where he presented a case of Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A.S. Loginov. Mohamed's co-presenter was Semyon Glushenko, Assistant Chief Project Engineer at Metropolis.

    The project of a new medical complex, the general designer of which is the Metropolis company, has already been declared:

    1. winner at the VI All-Russian competition "TEAM LEADERS 2021/22" in the category "Information modeling of public facilities";
    2. winner at the BIM&Security 2022 competition in the category "The largest number of elements in a BIM model";
    3. winner at the Moscow Government Environmental Award, organized by the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow, for a project to improve the territory adjacent to the hospital.

    The project is also nominated for the Best for Life Award 2022 in the Spaces & Places category and for the 100+ Awards 2022 award in the categories “Best Engineering Solution for a Construction Site” and “Best BIM Model of a Building”.

    Mikhail Murashko in his online speech noted that high-quality medical care must be provided at the same level throughout the country. As part of this plan, by 2025, it is scheduled to build and reconstruct 5,800 medical facilities in Russian cities and repair more than 7,900 buildings of medical organizations. He emphasized that the design of hospitals directly affects the recovery of patients.

    Irek Faizullin also joined online and talked about how the concept of "health architecture" is being successfully implemented in the regions of the country, and how it is scaled nationwide. “Hospitals today must be competitive, and it is important to take into account the best Russian and foreign practices when designing and building them. One of the most important tools for the implementation of projects of medical institutions today is the institute of standard design documentation introduced by the Ministry of Construction of Russia. Together with the Ministry of Health of Russia, we are working to select the most effective implemented projects in healthcare, which can become typical for further implementation and construction in different regions of our country.”

    Ilsur Metshin emphasized that the complex of transformations that is being implemented in Kazan is always aimed at people’s well-being. “Human health depends on several factors, 80% of which are our scope of work. We are investing significant funds and efforts in the modernization of medical institutions. Since 2017, we have managed to upgrade 79 hospitals and polyclinics, next year we plan to build a children's hospital on the banks of the Kazanka River and a transplantation center based on the Republican Clinical Hospital,” shared the Mayor of Kazan.

    Alexey Pesoshin noted that the materials used in the construction of buildings and climate control equipment play an extremely important role. The introduction of new information technologies into the work contributes to the improvement of the quality control systems for the provision of services, automation and standardization of various technological processes. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan drew attention to the fact that healthcare facilities are a complex type of public buildings, saturated with technological, medical and engineering equipment.

    Alexey Pesoshin also concluded that over the years of its existence, the MES conference has proved its worth and high efficiency and has become a key platform in the Volga Federal District for the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of engineering and information technologies applied to healthcare facilities.
